Carol Fishman Cohen and Vivian Steir Rabin are the authors of
Back on the Career Track:
A Guide for Stay-At-Home Moms Who Want to Return to Work, a book offering strategy and advice to women resuming careers
after extended time at home with children. Both graduates of
Harvard Business School, Carol and Vivian have experienced
personally the process of building a career, taking a career
break to be home with children, and getting “back on the career
track”.

Carol Fishman Cohen is an expert, speaker
and consultant on the topic of career re-entry. She is
the co-author of Back on the Career Track: A Guide for
Stay-at-Home Moms Who Want to Return to Work (Warner
Books, June 2007) and co-founder of iRelaunch, a company
connecting mid-career professionals on career break with
each other, with resources, and ultimately, with
companies interested in re-engaging them. Ms. Cohen was
on maternity leave with her first child in February
1990, when her firm, investment bank Drexel Burnham
Lambert, dissolved. After five years working part time
while having three more children, followed by six years
at home full time, Ms. Cohen relaunched her career in
2001 by taking a demanding, full time job at a major
investment firm. Although she was thrilled to return to
the workplace, she eventually realized it was not the
perfect match, and left after a year. Following her
departure, Harvard Business School made Ms. Cohen the
subject of a case study about a professional who resumed
her career after extended leave at home. When the case
was published, she began speaking about the topic and
collaborating with Ms. Rabin on the research that
culminated in Back on the Career Track. She lives in Newton, Massachusetts with
her husband and four children ages 12-17. Ms. Cohen is a
graduate of Pomona College and Harvard Business School. |

Vivian Steir Rabin is the co-author of Back on the
Career Track: A Guide for Stay-at-Home Moms Who Want to
Return to Work (Warner Books, June 2007) and co-founder
of iRelaunch, a company connecting mid-career
professionals on career break with each other, with
resources to update them and, ultimately, with companies
interested in reengaging them. After 10 years in
business, primarily in finance and human resources, Ms.
Rabin took a 7 year career break to care for her 5
children. In 2000, she returned to the workforce as a
retained executive search consultant. During the course
of her transition from home to work, she saw that there
were no resources for others seeking to make this same
transition, and formed a long-term goal of “doing
something about the reentry problem.” As a result of the
book and iRelaunch, Ms. Rabin is a frequent speaker and
consultant on the topic of career reentry. She lives in
Clifton, NJ with her husband and 5 children ages 10-18.
